Micro-Apartment: TwinMotion Architectural Previsualisation

This 3D work was the focus of my creative practice module in my university 3D Modelling Course.

I wanted to explore the concept of innovative city living and the modern trend of Micro-Apartments seen increasingly in dense city, particularly in Asian cities such as Tokyo. To push this concept I created 3 interior design concepts using the same base apartment studio model that I created.

Using Twinmotion exclusively for the first two concepts, I investigated the quick designing tools with in twinmotion to populate my scene with furnishings and environmental elements. I experimented with the extensive material library and then applied them thoughtfully through my scenes following my concept/moodboards I created for the project. Lighting the scene appealing was one of the most significant challenges for creating a realistic lighting environment, though I was able to over come this with referencing good real world examples of interior lighting and experimentation.

For my final concept, I wanted to test TwinMotions ability to work with custom models and textures, so I created a concept from start to end using only models I had made, along with incorporating both my own and TwinMotions textures on my models. This worked well with some adjusting and further research into the program. Using custom models with custom textures proved more challenging to light realistically due to the difference in texture formatting but this was over come to an extent in the final output.
